The list, which is intended to encourage foreign direct investment in areas where the economy's needs are most pronounced, allows foreign firms to enjoy a streamlined application and approval process. The list's 136 projects are expected to feature a strong focus on infrastructure and tourism according to Vietnam Investment Review. The government's decision to push infrastructure reflects the belief, that despite a 14% increase in FDI in infrastructure, the economy needs more roads, ports, airports, power and water facilities and similar to grow. It is not surprising that among the infrastructure projects are 16 new expressways, 6 airports, 7 ports and 10 urban developments. Tourism is likely to also feature prominently with 20 projects slated for the FDI fast track. Location will include Halong Bay, and Da Lat. |
