As part of his official two day visit to the economic powerhouse, PM Dung will meet with his Singaporean counterpart PM Lee Hsien Loong, sa well as President S R Nathan, Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong and Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew. The trip marks PM Dung's first visit to Singapore as prime minister.
The bulk of the time will likely be dominated by efforts to increase the already strong trade and investment links between the two nations. Singapore already ranks as Vietnam's top investor with $9.6 billion USD so far, putting it ahead of South Korea. This total will doubtless soar in the coming years as Singapore firms continue to look for opportunities. The two signed an agreement to develop a series of industrial parks and township projects valued at over $2 billion USD. The projects include a new 700-hectare industrial park in Bac Ninh and a 1,200-hectare township in the Hai Phong. |
